Tashkeel Residency

Tashkeel

In May this year I received the wonderful news that Fari Bradley and I had been selected for a year long residency programme at the Tashkeel Gallery, Dubai UAE. A residency of this length will give us ample time to really hone and refine our current practises and interests. We are working with the gallery on three major projects, to be shown throughout the UAE, culminating with a show at Tashkeel itself in early 2015.

Kicking off the residency programme in September is a short film series discussing issues and themes central to artists using sound as their main practise. The first evening features extracts from Peter Greenaway’s “Four American Composers: John Cage”, a documentary by students from the London College of Communication “Learning to Listen” and an introduction by UAE-based sound artist Jonny Farrow.

Tashkeel have encouraged both me and Fari to blog about our progress on their own Guest Artist page. The first post has a selection of recordings from the industrial area of Dubai, Al Quoz.
