I’ve returned to the United Arab Emirates with my partner Fari Bradley to start work on a series of surround sound performances called “Circular Landscapes”. The performances take historically significant sites of transit and migration, the ancient desert dwellings of Mhelia, Sharjah airport (the first airport in both the UAE and the Gulf region), as inspiration. This commission sculpts sound and vision into a multi-channel, audio-visual work, scoring field recordings and interview excerpts collected at each site, alongside electro-acoustic compositions performed live by the artists.
